I’m so excited to finally be showing all this to the world and am equally excited to get to read your work.  You’re here because you’re interested in getting high-quality feedback on your writing, and that’s what we’re here to do; Pencilhouse exists to help writers in their development by responding directly and thoughtfully to their work.

Here’s how we envision that working.

Each month, we’re going to drop a Patrons-Only post on the 1st of the month.  Inside that Patrons-only post is a link to a Google Form where you can tell us about yourself and upload your work.  After 24 hours, we’ll post the form link to our Twitter @ThePencilhouse so that non-patrons have a chance to submit as well.

Once the number of uploads reaches our cap (50 submissions for our inaugural call), we’ll close the call.  NOTE: We will hold spots each month for public/free submissions.

Once the call is closed, our feedback team will get to work reading and critiquing your work.

We expect to return your feedback during the 3rd week of each month.

Submission Guidelines

Pencilhouse reads poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.  For monthly open calls, please submit up to 2 pages of poetry (max 2 poems), or up to 10 pages of prose, double-spaced.  We expect these guidelines to take clearer shape over time; we do expect that submitters come with an understanding that all Pencilhouse feedback is written with only the best of intentions and that our aim is to be encouraging.  Our want is for everyone who works with us to walk away excited to continue working on their craft.

I do hope you’ll consider becoming a Patron; you’ll get FIRST CRACK at monthly open calls, access to a private Discord server, and a thank you in the next ZERO READERS omnibus, which you’ll get a .pdf copy of.

Our first monthly call will open on May 1, 2022.  We will announce and introduce our very first feedback team in the coming weeks, and look forward to reading your work.
