Submissions open

Pencilhouse opens submissions at the beginning of each month and caps submissions based upon how many volunteers are available to provide feedback.

Pencilhouse sends you submitters’ work

When we hit our submissions cap, we distribute work to volunteers based on their preferences (genre, sensitivities, etc.).  Each volunteer gets one piece per month to read and prepare feedback for. Pencilhouse’s expectation for volunteers’ time commitment per month is ~2 hours, give/take.

You read and prepare feedback

You read and respond to your assigned submission at your own pace—we generally expect feedback returned around the 21st of the month.  You’ll find specific tips and expectations on how we provide feedback in our volunteer handbook.

Four

Pencilhouse forwards your response to the submitter

Once you upload your comments, we send those to the submitter via email and ask them to provide feedback so we can continuously refine our feedback program.

To complete the cycle, we’ll ask about your availability for the next month and then we do it all over again!
