Founder

JASON W. MCGLONE publishes the process-centered journal Zero Readers.  He holds a MFA from Queens University of Charlotte, as well as a BA in English and a grad certificate in Nonprofit Management from Northern Kentucky University and lives with his family in Cincinnati. Jason’s work has appeared in Autofocus, X-R-A-Y Literary Magazine, Stanchion, Potluck Magazine, Sledgehammer Lit, Glint Literary Journal, Briefly Zine, BS/WS Zine and more.

Jill McGlone

JILL MCGLONE holds a MS in Library Science from the University of Kentucky, an MA in Teaching as well as a BA in English from Northern Kentucky University.  She taught English at the high school level for nine years before moving to instructional coaching and eventually librarianship in the Campbell County, KY school system, where she’s presently working on library gamification. 

Elishia Chamberlain

ELISHIA CHAMBERLAIN holds a MPA from NKU, and has fifteen years of local government management and nonprofit management experience. With a fine arts background and a love for creative writing, she is thrilled to lend her nonprofit management experience to support the Pencilhouse mission. She once won the Governor’s Cup gold medal for creative writing; having peaked at eleven with this minor success, Elishia has since stayed in her lane with academic writing. She was most recently published in Local Development and Society Journal.  Elishia lives with her best human friend, a disgruntled cat, and her best dog friend. Occasionally she moonlights as an actress, dancer, and bourbon connoisseur.

Dale Marie Pontz

DALE MARIE PONTZ holds a MA in Communication from the University of Cincinnati, as well as a BA in Speech Communication from Northern Kentucky University. She is a former: college instructor, bartender, customer success manager, secretary, and file clerk. Currently, she serves as the Regional Organizer for a progressive non-profit. Her work has been published mostly on the internet and a couple of times in the newspaper, reaching dozens of people. She likes words, sports, HGTV, and drinking on patios. She lives in Cincinnati with her dog and some freeloading spiders.

Jessica Handler

JESSICA HANDLER is the author of the novel The Magnetic Girl,  winner of the 2020 Southern Book Prize and a nominee for the Townsend Prize for Fiction. The novel is one of the 2019 “Books All Georgians Should Read,” an Indie Next pick, Wall Street Journal Spring 2019 pick, Bitter Southerner Summer 2019 pick, and a SIBA Okra Pick. Her memoir, Invisible Sisters, was also named one of the “Books All Georgians Should Read,” and her craft guide Braving the Fire: A Guide to Writing About Grief and Loss was praised by Vanity Fair magazine. Mack Rogers, Staff Critic

MACK ROGERS is a gay Black writer. His work has appeared in Foglifter, Olney Magazine, Susurrus, Still, and Papers Publishing and is forthcoming in A GREAT GAY BOOK and Shenandoah. Mack is a poetry reader at Split Lip Mag and poetry editor for Zero Readers. He lives with his partner and their three cats near Raleigh, NC.
